A Postgame Communion for the Fighting Irish

Win or lose in their game today against the USC Trojans, the Notre Dame football team, along with coaches and administrators, will attend a communion breakfast at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Anaheim Marriott.

Father Edward “Monk” Malloy, the university’s president, will preside at the liturgy, and a Fighting Irish luminary will be seated at each table.

Before the breakfast, Daniel “Rudy” Ruettiger will speak on “Overcoming Obstacles to Achieve Your Dreams.” Ruettiger was a bench-warmer on the Irish football team in the mid-1970s whose positive attitude inspired the movie “Rudy.” His talk begins at 8 a.m.
