Montclair Prep 55, Banning 6--The Mounties scored touchdowns on their first five possessions and Gary Sonkur ran for five touchdowns at Nicholet Middle School in Banning.
Sonkur scored on runs of eight, 42, 15 and six yards for Montclair Prep’s first four scores. Sonkur scored on a 38-yard run in the third quarter to give him 213 yards in 20 carries.
The top-seeded Mounties (12-0) forced five turnovers, including four interceptions. They also blocked a punt.
Justin Goss had 89 yards in 13 carries, including a six-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Montclair Prep rushed for 346 yards.
The Mounties out-gained Banning, 376 yards to 113.
Banning (6-6) scored in the third quarter when Scott Foster’s 16-yard pass was tipped in the end zone and caught by Flamingo Malone.
