Pringle Finishes Second in Canadian MVP Voting

Montreal running back Mike Pringle, formerly of Kennedy High and Cal State Fullerton, finished second to Calgary quarterback Dave Dickenson in the balloting for most valuable player of the Canadian Football League.

Pringle, the MVP in 1995 and ’98 and an all-league selection this season, led the CFL with 1,778 yards rushing. He helped Montreal to its first Grey Cup appearance in 21 years. The Alouettes play today at McMahon Stadium in Calgary against British Columbia.

Pringle had 89 yards and a touchdown in 16 carries in a 35-24 semifinal victory over Winnipeg.

Dickenson, who won the voting by a 27-15 margin, passed for 4,636 yards and 36 touchdowns.

FISHING

* A float-tube trout-fishing derby is slated for 10:30 a.m. Dec. 2 at the Hansen Dam Aquatic Center in Lake View Terrace.

A $5 donation is requested to participate in the derby.

* The first Thousand Oaks High Lancer tournament, benefiting the baseball program, is scheduled for Dec. 4 at Sunset Hills Country Club in Thousand Oaks.
