Volunteer naturalists are needed by the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority. Participants will attend classes from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays through Nov. 18 at Towsley Canyon in Santa Clarita. Topics are Native American culture, CPR and first aid, birds, mammals, ecology, geology and insects. The next class begins Saturday. Burbank Public Library Literacy Services needs volunteer literacy tutors for adults. The next three-day, 12-hour training session will be held in November at the Burbank Public Library Auditorium, 110 N. Glenoaks Blvd. Call (818) 238-5577.
