UC Irvine Plays Its Ace and Wins by 13 Strokes at Wood Ranch

Jeff Coburn won the individual title in a playoff Tuesday to lead UC Irvine to victory in the Countrywide Home Loans Invitational at Wood Ranch Golf Club in Simi Valley.

Coburn and Ian Lillibridge of Cal State Stanislaus both finished at 72-72-71--215.

Irvine totaled 283-295-308--886 and finished 13 strokes ahead of Stanislaus, which wound up at 300-302-297--899.

Host Cal State Northridge finished tied for eighth at 308-305-305--918.

Lance Dombrowski of Northridge shot 76-77-73--226 and finished in a tie for 14th that included teammate Scott Bashin, who totaled 76-76-74--226.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Oxnard 3, Santa Barbara 1--Anna McCrosky scored two goals and the Condors remained in the Western State Conference Northern Division lead at Oxnard.

Rosie Santoro had 10 saves for Oxnard (14-2, 7-2).

Ventura 4, Hancock 1--Jessica Toohey scored two goals for the Pirates in a WSC Northern Division game at Hancock.

Goalkeeper Heidi Guzman made four saves for Ventura (13-3-2, 7-2).

Canyons 4, Glendale 2--Nicole Modugno, Heather Zubis, Lindsay Moser and Clarissa Silva scored in the second half for the Cougars (10-5-2, 6-3) in a WSC Southern Division game at the Glendale Sports Complex.

Zita Lopez and Mandy Richman scored for Glendale.

MEN’S SOCCER

Moorpark 5, Citrus 1--Erik Neri and Russell Prior each scored two goals, and the Raiders (2-5-4, 1-1-2) blanked the Fighting Owls (0-11, 0-4) in the second half of a WSC interdivisional game at Moorpark.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Biola def. The Master’s, 15-10, 14-16, 15-8, 2-15, 15-8--Beth Avila had 23 kills, five blocks and 19 digs, and Jorden Whittington added 20 kills for the Mustangs at The Master’s.

Setter Lauren James had 31 assists for The Master’s (8-13).

Cal Lutheran def. Occidental, 15-6, 15-12, 15-7--Amanda Kiser had 11 kills, Sally Jahraus had 10 and the Regals (15-6, 7-1) won a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match at Occidental.

Moorpark def. Cuesta, 8-15, 15-9, 15-6, 15-9--Toni-Ann Mereadino had 19 kills with 16 digs and the Raiders (10-1, 1-0) won a WSC Northern Division match at Moorpark.

Kari Van Fleet and Colleen Keller of Moorpark each had 13 kills with 14 digs.
