Raymond, a 6-foot-7, 302-pound senior, suffered a neck bruise in Washington State’s triple-overtime loss at Arizona, and the spinal condition was discovered in an MRI examination.

Raymond’s twin brother, Reed, was a starter on the Cougars’ offensive line until he suffered a season-ending knee injury against California Sept. 30.

Georgia quarterback Quincy Carter, bothered by a sore left shoulder, didn’t practice with the team Wednesday but did manage some light throwing on the side.

Carter is doubtful for the No. 12 Bulldogs’ game Saturday at Kentucky. Sophomore Cory Phillips directed the first-team offense in practice.

“Cory has had a good week running our attack. He seems relaxed,” Coach Jim Donnan said. “It will be an adjustment for him in the game, but he’ll be ready to go.”

Carter, who has started 30 consecutive games for Georgia, was hurt in the fourth quarter of a victory over Vanderbilt last Saturday.

Nebraska backup running back Josh Davis is lost for the season with a torn knee ligament.

Davis is the son of former Nebraska running back Tony Davis, who played for the Cornhuskers from 1973-75.

John Edwards will start Saturday against Northern Arizona. Edwards scored the decisive touchdown for Montana against Northridge on a one-yard sneak with 1:50 left. He was 21-for-30 passing for 206 yards and one touchdown after taking over for Miller in the secondquarter.
