Water Polo Olympian to Coach at Villa Park

Villa Park has hired Olympian Ryan Bailey as girls’ water polo coach, girls’ Athletic Director Mark McMahon said Monday.

Bailey, a former All-American at UC Irvine, played for the U.S. men’s water polo team that finished sixth in Sydney. He will be a walk-on coach, McMahon said.

“We’re excited,” McMahon said. “Coaching is something he wants to try and we’ll see how it goes.”

Bailey replaces John Carcich, who remains at the school and will coach boys’ water polo and boys’ and girls’ swimming.
