Ways to Use Less Gas
There is a simple solution to the “crisis” of higher gasoline prices and possible shortages described in “State Barreling Ahead Toward a Fuel Shortage” (news analysis, Oct. 15): Don’t use so much gasoline!
There are many options for those who wish to save money on gas, such as public transportation, bicycles and even walking. This is Los Angeles, however, and people are loath to part with their cars. But there is hope even for the most stubborn driver. There are many fuel-efficient cars, electric cars and new gasoline-electric hybrids.
Remember: In capitalism, a product is worthless until people want it. If enough people found ways to use less (or even no) gasoline, prices would soon drop.
