Janet Ruth Holzapfel; Vocational Nurse

Janet Ruth Holzapfel, a licensed vocational nurse, died Friday at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura after a four-year battle with breast cancer. She was 36.

She was born Dec. 29, 1963, in Canoga Park. According to family members and friends, she took great pleasure in helping people.

Ten years ago she moved with her family to Ventura County. She enjoyed visiting museums, zoos and amusement parks with her children. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at the park, the lake, by the pool and especially the beach. She loved gardening, cooking and reading.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; their children, Erika, Ryan and Megan; sister Norma Trippeda of Castaic; and brothers Jeff and Dennis Laugtug.

Funeral services are scheduled today at 11 a.m. at Pierce Bros. Griffin Mortuary in Camarillo. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the USC Norris Cancer Center, Memorial Fund for Janet Holzapfel for Dr. Russell’s Research, 1441 Eastlake Ave., Suite 3448, Los Angeles, CA 90033.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Bros. Griffin Mortuary in Camarillo.
