Share

Free health screenings will be available for residents of west Ventura by Ventura Senior Services in cooperation with Project Understanding, Ventura County Public Health Department and the city of Ventura.

The free health clinics will offer screenings each month for diabetes, high blood pressure and body fat content. The clinics will also provide referrals for health management education and counseling, as well as monthly seminars on health, medical issues, nutrition and cooking.

“The west side of Ventura will benefit from these free health screenings, which are designed for this working community and for those who do not have health insurance or who fall though the cracks of the health system,” said Marcia Ortiz, community services supervisor. “We hope that working community members will take advantage of the evening clinic hours.” Screenings will be available from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the third Friday of each month at the Ventura Avenue Adult Center, 550 N. Ventura Ave.
