OUTLOOK
The Knights won’t go down to defeat easily this season. They return four starters (Arranda, Allen, Nieto and Stanton) on the offensive front line and have a proven quarterback in Haller, who passed for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns in 1999. Haller has a half-dozen good wide receivers, according to Unger, and a trio of strong tight ends in Purcha, Tackett and Ywakiem. Ywakiem was the big-play receiver last season, averaging 20.5 yards a catch. Tackett handled kicking duties last season, but had only nine points after touchdowns. The team’s lack of overall speed bothers Unger, however. He must also deal with a lack of depth in the secondary and at running back, where several standouts graduated.
