A motorcyclist fatally injured in a hit-and-run, head-on collision in Dana Point on Labor Day was identified Tuesday as Alfonso A. Sanchez, an employee of Orange County’s public facilities and resources department.
Sanchez, 54, was killed about 2:15 p.m. Monday after hitting a sport-utility vehicle while trying to make a left turn at Doheny Park Road and Victoria Boulevard. The driver of the utility vehicle, Kevin Joyce, fled and was arrested after being identified by witnesses a few minutes later.
Joyce, 60, was booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of felony hit and run and driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, police said.
