SERIES

The 411: CNN’s flagship business program, “Moneyline News Hour,” makes its bicoastal move official Monday at 3:30 p.m., as part of an initiative to expand coverage of the West Coast’s emerging high-tech industries.

Who’s Who: Willow Bay moves West too. She’ll anchor the show from CNN in Los Angeles. Co-anchor Stuart Varney continues reporting from New York.

Get a Clue: As a prelude, Bay hit the ground running this week, taking viewers on a quick coastal tour of several tech companies, wrapping up today with a visit to the headquarters of athletic sportswear giant Nike in Beaverton, Ore. Additional changes to “Moneyline” include enhanced market coverage with Terry Keenan, after-hours reports, a series uncovering emerging trends in the workplace and a production unit based in the heart of the new economy, Silicon Valley.

The Past: Bay and Varney have anchored “Moneyline” from New York City since both joined the 20-year-old show in July 1999.

The Future: Bay will try to build a strong West Coast presence in the series’ financial coverage.

Pause for Thought: Bay: “California is the heart of the new economy, and so much of the technological [change is] coming from the West Coast that it was very clear to us at CNN that we needed to beef up our coverage. You cannot deny the fascination with these high-tech companies. They are driving the growth of the market. On the other hand, New York and the markets believe that New York is the center of the financial universe, so [the bicoastal “Moneyline”] does represent a broadening of that perspective.”--SUSAN KING
