A Costa Mesa woman was fatally injured when her car collided with another vehicle Friday afternoon, police said.
The accident happened about 3:30 p.m. when a 1991 Buick LeSabre driven by Paula Ertz, 74, made a right turn from Smalley Road onto Sunflower Avenue and collided with a 1992 Jeep Cherokee, Costa Mesa police said.
Ertz was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where she died of her injuries, officials said. Her husband, Julian Saul Ertz, 80, was a passenger in the car and suffered minor injuries, as did the driver of the Jeep, a 24-year-old Costa Mesa woman, police said.
The accident is still under investigation, authorities said late Friday.
