Police confiscated about 220 marijuana plants Wednesday growing under brush less than a mile from where another crop of 550 plants was discovered Saturday.

Brea police, who serve Yorba Linda, said authorities believe the crops were planted by the same people.

“This took a lot of people to put together,” said Lt. David Carlock. Both marijuana farms were planted in plastic tubs irrigated with plastic pipe illegally tapped into a landscape waterline. They were camouflaged with thick brush.

Carlock said more plants may be hidden up in the dense brush of the hills north of Stonehaven Drive.

Police said Steven Joseph Shirinian, 18, of Yorba Linda, who was arrested after allegedly being found with 20 pounds of freshly picked marijuana, is no longer a suspect in the cultivation operation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Brea police at (714) 990-7625.
