A co-founder of the Gay-Straight Alliance at El Modena High School has filed a claim against the school district alleging that she was falsely arrested and expelled after a melee erupted during a March school board meeting.
Heather Zetin claims that she suffered emotional distress when police arrested her for allegedly biting a school principal at a March 9 board meeting.
At that meeting, about 30 gay-straight club supporters dressed as ninja warriors clashed with parents, administrators and officials trying to keep order.
Zetin refused to comment on the claim, which seeks at least $10 million in damages.
The claim does not affect the recent settlement between the school district and the Gay-Straight Alliance, which had sued for its right to meet on campus.
