Lakers reserve guard Derek Fisher had foot surgery Wednesday and is expected to be sidelined for six months.
The operation to repair a stress fracture in Fisher’s right foot was successful, Lakers spokesman John Black said.
Fisher may be able to rejoin the defending NBA champion Lakers by March or April, just before they would open the playoffs.
A fourth-year pro, Fisher averaged 6.3 points and 2.8 assists last season. He played in 78 contests, averaging 23.1 minutes a game.
He averaged 4.7 points and two assists in 21 playoff games.
