Australia’s Kane Moves Into Quarters
Australian Justin Kane did a victory back flip in the ring today after becoming the first bantamweight quarterfinalist in the Olympic boxing tournament.
The concrete layer, with his cropped hair dyed bright blue as a “true blue Aussie,” punched past Thailand’s Sontaya Wongprates, 15-13, after lagging his opponent for the first two rounds.
Then he raised his hands, saluted the crowd and did his acrobatic flip.
The opening fight of the afternoon session was watched by WBA heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield.
