Chiropractors, dentists, police and fire officials will take part in the sixth annual Kids Day America, a health and safety awareness festival from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Boshoff Chiropractic Center, 1100 W. Gonzales Road.

The free event, hosted by chiropractors Carisa Boshoff and her father, Stephanus, will include health screenings and safety awareness tips by members of the Oxnard Police Department, Carisa Boshoff said. The chiropractors will provide scoliosis screenings.

Children can get free emergency identification cards with photos and have their fingerprints and dental marks registered with the Police Department.

Information about the county’s youth foster programs will also be available, said Sabrina Biggs, coordinator of the local chapter of the California Youth Connection, a youth foster organization.

“We need foster parents,” she said. “Many foster kids don’t have control over what goes on in their life.”

Ventura County Supervisor John K. Flynn and others are scheduled to discuss children’s programs.

The festival will be celebrated worldwide in more than 1,200 communities. For information, call 485-4339.
