School Poll Results to Be Released Tonight

Share

The results of a much anticipated survey sent to parents regarding the curriculum at Peach Hill Elementary School will be released at tonight’s Moorpark Unified School District board meeting.

The survey was done after several parents expressed concern about the school’s low ranking in the 1999 Stanford 9 standardized testing.

Peach Hill’s test scores were among the lowest of the district’s six schools.

Marilyn Eubanks, Peach Hill’s principal, said from what she saw, the parents’ answers to the survey were constructive.

“There are other things about Peach [that] parents weren’t aware of,” Eubanks said. “The survey brought out the good things about Peach, and that’s the way I’m looking at this. This wasn’t a way to raise test scores.”

School board member David Pollock, however, said that the survey should serve as a window into parental concerns about instruction at the school.

“The board was concerned about the image of the school and the lack of faith in the instructional programs,” Pollock said.

The school board will meet at 6 p.m. in the district office board room, 30 Flory Ave.
