Rabies Vaccine Clinic Scheduled
The Ventura County Department of Animal Regulation will host a rabies vaccination clinic 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Ventura County Fire Station No. 53 in Port Hueneme.
For $4 in cash, area veterinarians and technicians will give rabies vaccines to dogs and cats. The clinic is open to county residents.
The county’s animal regulation department only provides rabies vaccinations during its low-cost clinics, said Vilma Walker, a licensing clerk.
The regular cost for the rabies vaccine ranges from about $8 to $18 at veterinarian offices across the county.
By law, all dogs and cats older than 4 months must have the rabies inoculation, officials said.
Dog licenses can also be purchased at the event. Licenses cost $10 for dogs that have been spayed or neutered and $30 for those that have not been. Proof of the procedure is required.
The department and area veterinarians who are members of the Ventura Country Veterinary Medical Assn. host the low-cost rabies vaccination clinic for pets once a month.
The next clinic is scheduled for Nov. 1 in Fillmore.
