Troy Starts Quickly, Rushes Past Ontario
Troy scored on its first three possessions and went on to beat Ontario, 41-21, Thursday at Montclair High.
The Warriors accumulated 450 yards in total offense. Quarterback Jordan Oliver completed 11 of 16 passes for 174 yards and one touchdown, and running back Paul Evenson carried 17 times for 109 yards and three touchdowns.
Troy (3-1) took the opening kickoff and drove 61 yards on five plays before Oliver connected with Ryan Welch on a 32-yard touchdown pass play with just over 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Evenson would score his first two touchdowns after the Warriors recovered Ontario fumbles. Troy led, 21-0, with 2:26 left in the first quarter, but it didn’t hold on for long as Ontario (0-4) scored two touchdowns in the span of 10 seconds.
Evenson scored what proved to be the winning touchdown on an 11-yard run with 1:55 remaining in the first half.
