Tustin Power Punishes San Bernardino

Dominating on both sides of the ball, Tustin defeated host San Bernardino, 24-0, Friday night.

Tustin gained 331 yards in total offense and held San Bernardino to 110 yards in the game, 25 yards in the second half. The Tillers led San Bernardino (3-1) by nine minutes in second-half time of possession held standout San Bernardino running back Derrick Stotts to less than half his average rushing game.

The Tillers took an 8-0 lead with 6 minutes 42 seconds remaining in the first half on a three-yard touchdown run by Frostee Rucker. Chris Chester added the two-point conversion that gave Tustin (3-1) an 8-0 halftime lead.

Rucker scored again from three yards with 2:26 remaining in the third quarter as the Tillers increased their lead to 15-0. David Miller threw his first touchdown pass of the season, 29 yards to Chester, with just under seven minutes remaining in the game.

The Tillers added a safety three seconds after Chester’s touchdown. After Raheim Bell fumbled the kickoff out of bounds at the five-yard line, Tustin linebacker Matt McCoy sacked San Bernardino quarterback Anthony Thomas in the end zone.

Stotts, who came into the game averaging 225 yards and having scored all 10 San Bernardino touchdowns, was held to 95 yards in 20 carries. He carried three times in the second half for nine yards.
