Wayne L. Boatman; Real Estate Broker

Wayne L. Boatman, a longtime Ventura County resident and real estate broker, died Saturday at his home in Ventura following a lengthy illness. He was 61.

He was born on Aug. 26, 1939 in Kilgore, Texas and moved to Ventura County with his family when he was 4 years old.

He owned and operated Boatman & Associates, a real estate office in Ventura, for 40 years and was a member of the Board of Realtors.

He was a member of the Channel Island Clippers and sang baritone with the Ancient Mariners Quartet. He also played the piano and organ.

He is survived by sons Robert of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Barry of Camarillo; mother Ellen Boatman of Casitas Springs; brothers Charles of Mill Valley and James of Ventura, and nine grandchildren.

Memorial services are scheduled at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Ivy Lawn Memorial Park Chapel with the Rev. Sam Eubanks officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ted Mayr Funeral Home, Ventura.
