Equestrian School Instructor Charged With Sex Offense
An instructor at a Costa Mesa equestrian school at the Orange County Fairgrounds was charged with sexual battery and child annoyance this week, police said.
Garth Walter Brown, 37, surrendered to police Wednesday and was released on his own recognizance, said Orange County Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Doan.
The two-month investigation by police began after a 17-year-old female student reported that her instructor had committed sexual misconduct, police said.
Brown, who owns Garth & Brenda Brown Performance Horses on the fairgrounds, will be arraigned April 17.
