Cal State Northridge gave up four runs--all with two out--in the eighth inning Sunday and lost the rubber match, 6-4, in its Big West Conference series at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

The Matadors (22-13, 1-2 in the Big West) play a nonconference game today at Loyola Marymount then resume conference play Thursday at Northridge with the opener of a three-game series against UC Santa Barbara.

First baseman Tim Arroyo’s sixth-inning home run extended his hitting streak to 21 games. Arroyo has eight home runs. Jason Gorman hit his fourth home run for Northridge.

Reliever Mike Frick (2-2) was charged with the loss.

The Northridge softball team improved to 6-3 in the Big West with a three-game sweep at Cal State Sacramento over the weekend.

Northridge (22-19) plays a three-game conference series this weekend against Cal Poly San Luis Obispo beginning with a doubleheader Friday at Northridge.
