Luncheon to Honor Labor Activist
The Ventura County Community Foundation will honor longtime labor activist Hank Lacayo on Sunday at a luncheon marking his 70th birthday.
The luncheon is also a fund-raiser for the new Hank Lacayo Destino Fund, to address issues facing the Latino community.
Lacayo, who turns 70 on Thursday, is chairman of Ventura County’s Democratic Central Committee and board president of El Concilio del Condado de Ventura, the county’s largest Latino advocacy group.
Before arriving in Ventura County, he served in El Segundo as president of the largest United Auto Workers chapter west of the Mississippi and was an advisor to the U.S. Department of Labor under the Kennedy and Johnson administrations.
The luncheon will be at Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo.
