At last month’s Hootenanny Festival in Irvine, X founder John Doe not only led his side band, the John Doe Thing, through a scorching set spanning X and solo material, he helped save the day for rock legend Chuck Berry’s set by hooking up Berry’s guitar amps when the stage crew couldn’t get things working.
