Pacific Palisades’ Dan Holtz swept the Food 4 Less Super Late Model twin 50-lap main events Saturday night before 5,245 at Irwindale Speedway.

In the first race, Holtz, running for only the fifth time this season, held off Super Late Model point leader Sean Woodside by 0.048 seconds after taking the lead on lap 13 from Woodside.

Tony Bruncati finished third, Kevin Vernon fourth and Nathan Wulff fifth.

In the second race, Woodside took the early lead and held off Holtz until lap 37, when Holtz used Fontana Mayor David Eshleman as a pick to overtake Woodside. Brandon Loverock overtook Woodside for second place on lap 41 and held him off at the end.

The race was marred by a bizarre incident during a yellow flag on the ninth lap. David Quataro, who had been assessed a stop-and-go penalty, got into an argument with track officials and was ejected from the race and suspended for the remainder of the year.

In the 35-lap Modified 4 main event, Ojai’s Greg Tucker went wire-to-wire to claim his first victory at the track. Dean Kuhn won his ninth Grand American Modified main event with a 25-lap, wire-to-wire victory.

Simi Valley’s Andrew Phipps won for the sixth time this season, taking the Super Stock 40-lap main. Canyon Country’s Julianne Seeley finished third, the highest finish ever by a woman on the half-mile track.
