Firefighters stretched thin as they battle blazes throughout Northern California will get help from more than 50 fire engines from Southern California, with priority going to a fire burning a half-mile outside San Andreas.

Smoke from the 2,100-acre Leonard fire blanketed the small community of San Andreas on Monday. Residents from 300 homes on eight roads in the rural area were ordered evacuated Sunday, with additional evacuations expected.
