Man Dies as Car Veers Off Freeway, Overturns
A 34-year-old Irvine man was fatally injured Monday when his car ran off a freeway and overturned, authorities said.
The man, whose identity was not immediately released, was driving south on the San Diego Freeway near the Culver Drive exit about 5:15 a.m., investigators said.
“He drove off the road, sideswiped a tree and was partially ejected from the car. He wasn’t wearing a seat belt,” California Highway Patrol Officer Joanne O’Hare said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, O’Hare said.
Authorities did not release any other details of the incident, citing the ongoing investigation.
