Mother, Son Arraigned in Tenant’s Arson Death

A Mid-City woman and her son were charged Friday in the arson death of one of their tenants, a double-amputee who was in their care.

Clemetha Marie Dillard, 76, and her son, Anthony Dillard, 51, were arraigned in Superior Court on charges of murder and arson. Both are being held without bail.

Arson death--A California section story and headline Saturday incorrectly stated that a woman and her son were arraigned in the arson death of one of their tenants. Clemetha Marie Dillard and Anthony Dillard, who have been charged with murder and arson, are scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 14.

Joe Williams, 75, died in his rented home near Cochran Avenue and Washington Boulevard from burns and smoke inhalation early Wednesday, authorities said.
