Take Public Transport to the Airports

Share

I read your story about parking at the airports (“Navigating the Airports,” Nov. 18). You did not include the Van Nuys FlyAway. We always use the buses and park our car at the FlyAway terminal. The cost is $2 a day and $6 round trip. How can you beat that?

In your recent roundup of how to get to Southern California airports, you didn’t mention Metrolink to Burbank Airport.

I recently had a chance to use this double-decker commuter train, and it was terrific. A smooth-as-satin 25-minute ride took me from Union Station in downtown L.A. to the Burbank Airport station (cost: $5). From the station it was about a five-minute walk to the airport terminal, though the airport also runs shuttles. The station is on Metrolink’s Ventura County line, so one can reach it from those stations as well.

At Union Station one can connect with other Metrolink trains, the Red Line subway and buses.

Metrolink’s schedule is erratic, but if your schedule and starting point work with Metrolink, it’s a great alternative.
