The lights dimmed, the videotape machine started and Steve Spurrier’s power pointer shined its harsh red light on Florida State defensive lineman Darnell Dockett.

The video, shot from the end zone, showed Dockett writhing on top of Florida tailback Earnest Graham’s leg. Another replay showed a scene on the sideline, in which Dockett stomps his foot near downed Gator quarterback Rex Grossman.

Spurrier choreographed the video show for reporters on Monday, the one-month anniversary of Florida’s 37-13 victory against Florida State.

The Gator coach is angry and wants to prove he’s not making anything up when he says Dockett intentionally caused Graham’s sprained right knee or tried to stomp Grossman’s hand.

“For those who are curious about what happened, we’ll show you what happened, just so some people won’t think we’re making up what happened,” Spurrier said.

Told of Spurrier’s latest comments, Florida State Coach Bobby Bowden sounded tired of the argument.

“It’s something, to me, that you give to the officials and let them make a decision on it,” Bowden said. “It’s what they do in the NFL and it should be done here.”

Atlantic Coast Conference officials already have reviewed the plays and told Florida State they didn’t see anything wrong.

A few weeks ago, Florida State Athletic Director Dave Hart called a news conference specifically to address Spurrier’s allegations--that Dockett tried to hurt Graham and Grossman, and that Seminole coaches might actually teach their players to play dirty.

“It would probably be good if somebody just spanked him and put him to bed and hope he wakes up all grown up,” Hart said of Spurrier then.

Graham returned to practice Sunday and said he had retained a lawyer. He is still considering suing Dockett.

“He knows what he did,” Graham said. “It’s not over with. I don’t really want to go over it until after the bowl game, but it will be handled in its own way.”
