* Colin MacNeil of Canyon High, a Times All-Valley linebacker, has committed to Cornell.

MacNeil, who has a 4.3 grade-point average, picked Cornell over Columbia, Pomona and Occidental.

“When I went back there last weekend, I felt like I fit,” said MacNeil, who will play fullback. “They’re a bunch of blue-collar guys and I fell in the love with the campus.”

* Linebacker Josh Martin of Sylmar High, The Times’ Valley defensive player of the year, will visit the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md., this weekend.
