From Staff and Wire Reports

Bryan Bracey scored 23 points as Oregon took advantage of a terrible shooting by No. 7-ranked Arizona to win, 79-67, on Thursday night at Eugene, Ore.

Oregon, 12-6 overall and 3-5 in the Pacific 10, also got 17 points from Luke Ridnour in getting consecutive victories against Arizona for the first time since 1983. Oregon came back from a 17-point deficit to beat the then-No. 3 Wildcats at McArthur Court, 86-81, last season.

Arizona (14-6, 6-2) shot a season-low 35% and committed 18 turnovers, including six traveling violations.

The Wildcats missed 10 of 12 three-point shots, with guards Jason Gardner and Gilbert Arenas going a combined six for 22. They also had 18 points between them, more than 10 below their average.

Loren Woods, who tied an NCAA record with 14 blocks against Oregon in last season’s game in Tucson, had 11 points. He made four of 14 shots and had two blocks. Woods did not play at Oregon because of back problems.

Oregon had nine blocks to Arizona’s five and the Ducks’ bench outscored the Wildcats’ 19-8. Oregon’s 7-foot-2 reserve center Chris Christoffersen had three blocks, two against Woods.

Oregon, which had lost five of its previous six games, took a 9-8 lead six minutes in and stayed in front the rest of the way. A layup by Michael Wright, who led Arizona with 18 points, cut the lead to 32-27 early in the second half, but the Ducks pulled away from there.

A fastbreak layup by Anthony Norwood, which followed Christoffersen’s block of Woods, pushed the lead to nine. A basket and two free throws by Julius Hicks, playing with a sprained right ankle, plus a layup by Bracey made it 56-40 with 10:17 to play.

Arizona couldn’t get closer than eight after that.

Arizona State 73, Oregon State 58--Awvee Storey scored 17 points at Corvallis, Ore., to help the Sun Devils (9-10, 1-7) end their losing streak at seven. Oregon State is 8-12 and 2-6.
