Fullerton Women End 32-Game Losing Streak
Cal State Fullerton ended a 32-game losing streak Sunday with a 57-50 victory over Idaho in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game at Moscow, Idaho.
Chante Gifford scored a game-high 16 points and Heather Hansen had 11 rebounds for the Titans (1-19, 1-6), who committed just 13 turnovers to 25 for Idaho (4-16, 1-6).
In another conference game:
Boise State 68, UC Irvine 60--Cindy Oparah scored 16 points and Brandy Hudson had 12 for the Anteaters (11-11, 2-5).
Boise State (9-11, 5-2) had four players in double figures, led by Crista Peterson’s 15.
In the New Mexico Diamond softball tournament:
CS Fullerton 7, Colorado State 0--The Titans (5-1), ranked 14th in the nation, won the championship, as pitcher Jodie Cox (3-1) went the distance in two games, allowing just five hits and recording 22 strikeouts. The Titans defeated Mississippi, 9-0, in the semifinals. Monica Lucatero was six for eight on the day with four runs batted in.
