Masters Wrestling Begins Friday at Fountain Valley
The Masters wrestling meet, the Southern Section’s qualifier for the state finals, begins Friday at Fountain Valley High with 336 athletes scheduled to compete in the two-day meet.
Participants in the Masters meet advanced in their weight classes from division finals last weekend.
The top eight finishers in each weight class will advance to the state championship meet at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, March 2-3.
Santa Ana Calvary Chapel, which won its 10th Division I individual championship, and Division II individual champion Santa Ana both have 11 wrestlers entered in the Masters meet, which begins at 4 p.m. Friday and continues at 9 a.m. Saturday.
