Opera--10:30 a.m: Live from New York, the Metropolitan Opera has been broadcasting its Saturday matinees since 1940 on radio. Now, these performances are on the Internet too. This week’s offering is Beethoven’s “Fidelio,” an opera probably better known for its stirring overture than its arias or libretto. In any regard, “Fidelio” is one of those somewhat rare operatic dramas in which justice triumphs over evil in the end. It stars Karita Mattila, Hei-Kyung Hong and Ben Heppner, and is conducted by James Levine. https://www.kusc.org

Jazz--10 a.m.: Documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, who takes on huge subjects such as the Civil War and baseball, has made a 10-part, 19-hour series on jazz for PBS. He discusses the film at https://www.broadcast.com/music/interviews.html.

Alternative Country--10 a.m.: Trent Summar is no urban cowboy. His hard-edged songs come from a place where, as his Web site has it, the swimming pools are above ground and muscle cars rule. Glee Club--3 p.m.: These ensembles seem to belong to the days when raccoon coats were all the rage at college football games. But a solid group can sound fantastic. Classical--5 p.m.: The Eroica Trio has not always been a critics’ favorite, but pianist Erika Nickrenz, violinist Adela Pena and cellist Sara Sant’Ambrogio are undeniably audience pleasers with their vibrant, flashy playing.
