Burch Lifts Canoga Park, 53-52

Walter Burch hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to lift Canoga Park High to a 53-52 victory over Dorsey in a Big City Brawl tournament game Saturday night at College of the Canyons.

Guard Cecil Brown scored 22 points for Canoga Park (7-8).

Jason Manary had five assists, including the pass that set up Burch’s game-winning shot.

North Hollywood 70, Chatsworth 65--Ken Hauser, Gus Ruiz and David Danipour each scored 16 points for the Huskies (10-4), who never trailed in a Big City Brawl tournament game at Canyons.

Shayne Berry and Scott Johnson each scored 18 points for the Chancellors (9-6).

Providence 76, Avalon 31--Fred Escobedo had 20 points and Derek Jones had 13 for the Pioneers (7-5, 3-1) in a Liberty League victory at Providence.

Oxnard 79, Santa Clara 45--Center Nicholas Curtis scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half and had 15 rebounds for the Yellowjackets (14-3) in a nonleague victory at Oxnard.

GIRLS

Paraclete 42, Village Christian 37--Charlotte Causly had eight points and 11 rebounds for the Spirits in an Alpha League victory at Village Christian.

Jackie Kolesat scored 21 points for Village Christian.

Cleveland 53, Marshall 50--Lisa Tran made two free throws, her only points of the game, with 50 seconds left to seal third place for the Cavaliers (10-3) in the Fairfax tournament.

Paraclete 72, Village Christian 68--Drew Gill hit all 18 of his free throws and scored 28 points to lead Paraclete (4-6, 1-0) to an Alpha League victory at Village Christian.

Brynne Steward scored 18 points and Gloria Ross had 10 points for Cleveland, which defeated the Barristers for the second time in three games this season.

Bell-Jeff 47, Serra 26--Ana Coronado had 19 points, nine rebounds and eight blocked shots for the Guards (7-8, 1-1) in a Camino Real League victory at Serra.

Providence 66, Avalon 34--Natalie Guzman had 13 points for the Pioneers (10-4, 4-0) in a Liberty League victory at Providence.

Nordhoff 60, Bishop Diego 51--Liz Mezori scored 14 points and Alison Bennett had 11 to help the Rangers (8-8) to a nonleague victory at Bishop Diego.
