Dooling Could Return Monday

Share

Rookie point guard Keyon Dooling, who has been on the injured list since Sunday because of a viral syndrome, is traveling with the Clippers on their current four-game trip and will be eligible to be activated for Monday’s game at Indiana.

But before he returns, the Clippers have some decisions to make. Thanks to the strong recent play of point guard Earl Boykins and big man Cherokee Parks, the Clippers will have to decide how to make room for Dooling.

The most logical area might be to use him up front, where power forwards Brian Skinner and Derek Strong have not played much lately. The Clippers, who have plenty of cap room to spare, may be able to trade either Skinner or Strong, but they would not get much in return. The injured list is another option because the Clippers would have two spots open once Dooling is activated.

Because the league did not want to have three players from the same team playing together in next month’s Schick Challenge at the All-Star game, Dooling was left off the rookie team. Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson will represent the Clippers on the first-year team, and Lamar Odom will play on the sophomore team.
