Cal State Fullerton snapped an eight-game losing streak by defeating Idaho, 64-53, in a Big West Conference men’s basketball game Saturday night at Idaho.

Ike Harmon scored 15 points for Fullerton, which held Idaho scoreless for the first 9 minutes 19 seconds of the second half to extend a seven-point halftime lead to a 37-18 advantage.

Josh Fischer had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Kevin Richardson added 10 for the Titans (2-12, 1-3 in conference). Daniel Kohn had 11 rebounds for Fullerton, which outrebounded Idaho, 38-29. Fullerton also made 17 of 22 second-half free-throw attempts.

“We got 27 rebounds from our big guys inside and we hit the clutch free throws down the stretch,” Fullerton Coach Donny Daniels said. “I was most pleased with our ability to sustain and build upon our lead. We changed defenses and that caused them some problems.”

The Titans’ first conference win and first victory over a Division I team this season also ended a 12-game road losing streak.

It was also the first time in more than three years that Cal State Fullerton flew home with a victory. The Titans won at North Texas, 74-72, on a last-second shot Jan. 10, 1998.

Jerald Jenkins scored 12 points for Idaho (3-12, 0-4), which shot 37% from the field.
