Park Dedication Honors Settlers
The city’s longtime residents, some who arrived in 1925, will be commemorated during a dedication ceremony at Portola Park on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
The event ends the city’s yearlong 75th Founder’s Day Celebration by unveiling a plaque with the family names of settlers.
The plaque will be placed in front of Pioneer Grove, which is an assortment of 75 trees planted during last year’s celebration.
The Pioneer Grove project was sponsored by the La Habra Old Settlers’ Historical Society and supported by several community groups, a society spokesman said.
Sonora High School student Steve Herring planted 25 of the trees as an Eagle Scout project.
The park is next to the Children’s Museum at 301 S. Euclid St.
