Curtis Allen slipped through Oregon’s defense for a layup with six seconds left in overtime to help give Washington a 72-71 victory Thursday night at Eugene, Ore.

Oregon’s Luke Ridnour made a jumper at the buzzer, but officials ruled the shot came too late.

Thalo Green had 22 points and Allen had 12 as Washington (8-9 overall, 2-3 in the Pacific 10) beat Oregon (10-4, 1-3) at McArthur Court for the second consecutive season.

Oregon’s Bryan Bracey, who entered the game as the Pac-10’s leading scoring at 19.2 points, scored 23. Eighteen of his points came in the second half and in overtime.

The Ducks were hurt by poor outside shooting. They lead the conference in three-point baskets per game at 8.9, but made just three of 22 from behind the arc. Anthony Norwood, Luke Ridnour and Freddie Jones were three for 16.

Washington led from the start of the game until the final minute, when two free throws by Bracey put Oregon ahead 62-61 with 47.5 seconds left. Another free throw by Bracey with 18 seconds left gave the Ducks a two-point lead, but a layup by Allen with 11 seconds left tied the score and forced overtime.

The teams traded baskets in overtime until Bracey put Oregon on top 71-70 with 50 seconds to go. With 10 seconds left, Washington got the ball after an Oregon turnover.

Allen weaved into the lane between Oregon defenders and laid the ball off the backboard for the game-winner.

Oregon State 67, Washington State 62--Deaundra Tanner scored 17 points at Corvallis, Ore., to help the Beavers (7-9, 1-3) end a losing streak at four, while the Cougars (7-7, 1-4) suffered a Pac-10 record 28th consecutive road loss.

Washington State has not won on the road in the conference since Jan. 15, 1998, when it beat Oregon State. Mike Bush led Washington State with 20 points.

A three-point basket by Josh Steinthal and two layups from Adam Masten gave Oregon State a 49-34 lead with 11:26 remaining. Washington State came back with a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to 51-44 with 7:15 to play. But the Cougars couldn’t get closer than four in the final minutes.

Jimmie Haywood, coming off a two-game suspension for violating unspecified team rules, had 12 points for the Beavers, who had Brian Jackson and Masten foul out. Jackson fouled out for the sixth time in 11 games, leaving the injury-plagued Beavers with only seven players.

With Oregon State leading 27-24, Haywood stole the ball from Bush and fed Jackson for a dunk with 15 seconds left in the first half. Haywood, who made all three of his three-point shots, made one from behind the arc as time ran out to give the Beavers a 32-24 lead.
