A 23-year-old mother of two was struck and killed Monday when a driver lost control of his truck while apparently suffering a seizure, Ventura County authorities said.

Tatiana Erika Villegas was hit about 11 a.m. while standing on a sidewalk outside her office at Blue Cross of California in the 2000 block of Corporate Center Drive, authorities said.

Villegas, an agent in the company’s preventive care department, was on a break and taking a walk when she was struck, authorities said.

The truck, traveling west, veered across the center line, jumped a sidewalk and hit Villegas, dragging her 30 feet before stopping in a parking lot.

The truck also struck several parked cars in its path, authorities said.

Several employees at the large insurance complex rushed outside after hearing of the accident. When bystanders reached the truck driver, Wesley Matthew Spoehr, 22, of Moorpark, he was in the midst of a seizure, authorities said.

The crowd included Villegas’ sister and a cousin, who also work for Blue Cross, authorities said.

Spoehr was treated at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks for minor injuries and released.

Villegas is survived by her husband and two daughters, who live in Reseda. Funeral arrangements were pending.

The accident was the second in the Southland in recent days in which a seizure is believed to have contributed to a fatal crash.
