A Palmdale man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of kidnapping and raping a 31-year-old Ventura woman he met in an Internet chat room, authorities said Wednesday.

Ventura County sheriff’s deputies, acting on a tip, found the woman early Wednesday at a home in the 16000 block of Pebble Beach Drive in Victorville, Senior Deputy Kim Garrett said.

The victim, who had been missing since Monday, was examined at a hospital before returning home, Garrett said.

The 33-year-old man is being held in the Ventura County Jail. The bail amount was not available.

Authorities declined to identify the man because deputies plan to execute a search warrant today at the Victorville home and they do not want evidence hidden or destroyed.

Garrett said the woman met the suspect online and then agreed to meet him Monday. Details of when and where the meeting took place were not released. Garrett said detectives don’t know if the woman drove to Victorville or was picked up and taken there.

The woman’s sister reported her missing on Monday, he said.
