Update--Last week’s 40-27 loss to Nashville did more than hurt the Avengers’ playoff hopes. Three players--receiver Chris Jackson (stress fracture in his left foot), quarterback Todd Marinovich (left elbow, right wrist) and quarterback Tony Graziani (ligament damage to the left knee)--were lost for the season. Harry Leons, the third-string quarterback who last played in 1999 with Portland and has dressed for games only twice in his two Avenger seasons, takes over tonight. Coach Robert Lyles, who fired offensive coordinator Terry Karg, plans to call the plays tonight. Carolina, currently in a four-way tie for the Eastern Division lead, has lost its last three.
