A Fresno man wanted on charges of spousal abuse, forcible sodomy and assault to commit rape was arrested in Santa Paula on Friday after a car and foot chase, police said.

Santa Paula police arrested 31-year-old George Jaime Retes after being tipped off by parole agents from the California Department of Corrections, who told them Retes was wanted in Fresno County. They gave local police officers several locations where he might be hiding.

At 10:15 a.m., Santa Paula police officers saw the suspect drive to the 700 block of West Harvard Boulevard. When the officers tried to arrest him, Retes refused to stop. He drove to the 300 block of 5th Street and fled on foot. He had his 2-year-old son in the car with him, police said.
