Torrance’s Jung Falls in National Tennis Final
Top-seeded Donald Young of Chicago defeated Jason Jung of Torrance, 6-1, 7-5, in the championship match of the 2001 U.S. Tennis Assn. Boys’ 12 Super National Hardcourt Championships Saturday morning at Harbor Bay Club in Alameda.
Jung, seeded 10th, defeated ninth-seeded Sean Corrigan of Lido Beach, N.Y. in the quarterfinals and third-seeded Gentry Kaegi of Park Ridge, Ill., in the semifinals.
Sixth-seeded Logan Hansen of Santa Monica lost to top-seeded Julia Cohen of Weston, Fla., 6-3, 7-5, in the title match of the 2001 USTA Girls’ 12 Super National Hardcourt Championships Saturday at the Windward Lake Club in Alpharetta, Ga.
