Boy, 13, Charged With Raping Girl, 7
Sexual assault charges were filed Friday against a 13-year-old Palmdale boy suspected of raping a 7-year-old girl as she chased her puppy into a neighbor’s backyard.
The boy, whose name was not released because of his age, is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Sylmar Juvenile Court on one count of sexual penetration by foreign object with an allegation the girl suffered great bodily injury in the attack late Tuesday afternoon.
The attack was so severe the girl required surgery, said Jane Robinson, spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office.
The boy, questioned Tuesday by sheriff’s detectives and released to his father, was arrested Wednesday after investigators interviewed the girl.
The boy was being held at Sylmar Juvenile Hall. Under California law, he is too young to be tried as an adult, Robinson said.
